Hall governments allow students to build a sense of community within the residence halls through a variety of programming and advocacy initiatives.
Positions & Position Descriptions
RHA has condensed positions. Prior to this year, there were 6 positions available which included President, VP, Treasurer, Secretary, Advocacy Liaison, and Programming Coordinator. Now, the Secretary’s roles merged with the VP, and Advocacy Liaison/Programming Coordinator became one position: Programming Advocacy Liaison.
President
The President leads all Hall Government meetings, ensures that all hall Government activities are proceeding as smoothly as possible i.e. follows up with members, attends two-on-one meetings with the Vice President & Advisor, attends General Assembly & Campus Council meetings, and partakes in a subcommittee of the general assembly.
Vice President
The Vice President of the Residence Hall Government is responsible for leading alongside the President when it comes to programing, and advocacy. The Vice President of the Residence Hall is also responsible for taking minutes at their respective Hall Government meetings as well as sending them after the meetings. They note the important dates, times and events discussed. They are responsible for attending their own hall government meeting once a week.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is responsible for keeping tab on the budget and distributing the money properly and accurately. They will be the access point for SABO and submitting PERR forms and cash advance requests. They will additionally create a preliminary budget that shows all planned events, and how their hall manages their budget in allocating funds for events. They are responsible for attending their own hall government meeting once a week.
Programming Advocacy Liaison
The Programming Advocacy Liaison is responsible for coordinating events/programs in their hall and arranging member roles for event preparation as well as relaying important RHA related information to his/her fellow residents and collecting feedback from the residents to report back to the hall government. Programming Advocacy Liaison will also keep their hall updated on university events and manage public relations for their Hall Government via flyers, social media platforms, etc. Programming Advocacy Liaison is an integral member of the RHA Membership. On top of being a general member of RHA, Programming Advocacy Liaison is closely connected to RHA’s goal for Advocacy, ensuring that the on-campus experience is the best possible for any resident; they would be responsible for leading advocacy initiatives within the building(s) and on-campus. They are responsible for attending their own hall government meeting once a week.
